LingCologne2023: Prediction in Language

16-17 June 2023
Aula 2 & Neuer Senatssaal, Main building, Albertus-Magnus-Platz, 50931 Cologne

This conference is free of charge and takes place in person. All talks will be interpeted into International Sign.

Organized by the Cologne Center of Language Sciences (CCLS), University of Cologne

The LingCologne2023 conference aims to identify and present the variety of notions related to prediction in language. LingCologne2023 offers a forum to present the state of the art of distinct accounts in order to establish potential links and points of contact between distinct concepts and applications of prediction to the investigation of language. In order to provide an initial “classification”, we identified four subject areas in which the notion of prediction plays a vital role with respect to language and related domains:

  • Processing
  • Structure
  • Models
  • Cognition

This conference brings together eight of the world’s leading researchers working in these four areas as an initiative to foster research that focuses more directly and collaboratively on the role of prediction in language and cognition.
